Lilidom's clothing line is manufactured only with organic and fair-trade cotton in India by Assisi Garments, a non-for-profit organization located in Tamil Nadu, in the southern part of the country.
Founded in 1994 by Franciscan nuns, Assisi runs numerous charity projects across the country: hosptials, school for the deaf, orphanages et nursery homes for the elderly and the disabled. Assisi Garments is also involved in trying to provide employment to women of the poorest communities in Tirupur.
Assisi uses exclusively organic cotton that is purchased from Agrocel.
The two organizations have each been certified SKAL and IMMO. Assisi is also a member of IFAT since 2003 and has been certified ''fair trade'' by FLO in January, 2006.
Today, the organization has over 200 employees, of which 130 women and pay 140 rupees (3,5 can$) per day, whereas the average daily wage is 100 roupees (2,5 can$) in the industry.
Assisi is currently working on the construction of a cancer treatment center in Kerala, where the widespread occurrence of the illness has been linked to the pollution emanating from the culture of conventional cotton: pollution of the soil and the water, usage of OGM seeds with massive amounts of pesticides.
The goal is for the hospital to absorb 50% of medical expenses.
